          Selectmen's Meeting Minutes - January 3, 1995

Present: Judith Murdoch, Joseph Frisoli, Chair; and Peter Jones.

I. Opening: Chair Frisoli called meeting to order at 7:06pm
requesting the warrant and bills be signed.  

II. Class II License Renewal Request: Motion 1/3/95.1: move to
issue Class II license for Devlin's Auto. Motion by Murdoch with
second by Jones.  Motion carried 3-0.    

III. DARE Tobacco Reduction Grant: Chair read memo from the Chief
that the Town is receiving $14,650 in a grant for DARE Tobacco
Reduction to fund after-school sports program and backup the DARE
officer.  Congratulations to the Chief for obtaining the grant.  

IV. W-H Adult Education / Wine tasting at Library Senior Center:
This request from the Adult Evening School carried over from the
last meeting. The request is for permission for wine tasting on
March 2,9,16 from 7-9pm.  Motion 1/3/95.2: move to grant approval
for wine tasting at the Senior Center conditional upon Nugent
coordinating with the Library Senior Center.  Motion by Murdoch
with second by Jones.  Motion carried 3-0.

V. Annual Town Meeting Warrant: Motion 1/3/95.3: move to open the
warrant for the May,1995 Annual Town Meeting until March 7, 1995.
Motion by Murdoch, second by Jones.  Motion carried 3-0.  Nugent
instructed to notify all Boards and the Regional School District.

VI. Acceptance of Minutes: Motion 1/3/95.4: move to accept the
Minutes of November 29, 1994; December 6, 1994 and December 14,
1994 as printed.  Motion by Murdoch, second by Jones.  Motion
carried 3-0.    Motion 1/3/95.5: move to accept the Minutes of
December 7, 1994 as printed.  Motion by Murdoch, second for
discussion by Jones.  Motion carried 2-0-1 (Jones absent).  
Minutes for December 20, 1994 will be considered next meeting.

VII. Negotiating Team Meetings: dates will be set individually by
team members after this meeting.  

VIII. Action Requests: (1) Dispatch Center: Frisoli called center
12/24; told landfill area open.  However, area closed (lack of
power due to storm).  Frisoli wants all numbers and current Town
info at the Dispatchers office for them to give good service.
(2) Budgets: Frisoli noted that the Police Dept Overtime (OT) is
right on schedule. Fire Dept way ahead of schedule on OT. 48% of
year with 69% of budget gone not counting the last two weeks.
This will be an area to watch and see if funds available
elsewhere in the Fire budget. (3) DEP Meeting on Rockland
Landfill: Meeting to be held in Hanover on January 9, 1995 at
7:30pm. Joe to let Mr. Mooney of Rockland know about this
meeting.  (4) DARE Request for Speaker: Due to unavailability of
Frisoli and Murdoch on February 16, 1995, Jones to take the
speaking engagement.  Nugent to let Peter Daley know.

IX. Additional hours/ Town Clerk's Office: Town Clerk Harris is
asking for seven (7) additional hours to comply with Motor Voter
Act which took effect January 1, 1995. Frisoli read Mrs. Harris
12/29/94 letter requesting hours be added to the Assistant Town
Clerk position which has 21 hours and would be increased to 28.
At the October Town Meeting position was increased from 12 hours
to the 21. The additional hours would be for training and added
paperwork required by law. Motion 1/3/95.6: move to add seven (7)
hours through June 30, 1995 to the position of Assistant Town
Clerk. Motion by Murdoch, second by Jones.  Motion carried 3-0.

X. Adjournment: Motion 1/3/95.7: move to adjourn.  Motion made by
Murdoch, second by Jones. Motion carried 3-0. Adjourned 7:43pm.
